The Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic went through the second CAF model implementation, which was concluded with a CAF External Feedback assessment.

Several organisations in the environmental sector have used the CAF model for improvement over the last four years. These include the Slovak Environmental Inspection, the Environmental Fund, and, last but not least, the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic (MŽP SR) as the central government authority for the creation and protection of the environment.

This was the second CAF model implementation within MŽP SR. The Ministry underwent the first one back in 2020–2021 as part of the national project by the Slovak Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing (ÚNMS SR) called ‘Implementation and Support of Quality Management in Public Administration Organisations’.

MŽP SR commenced the second implementation cycle at the beginning of 2023 when, following the preparatory phase and the CAF team’s initial meeting, the self-assessment process began. Its aim was a realistic evaluation of the approaches applied and the results achieved by the Ministry, according to the nine criteria of the CAF Model. The outcome was a self-assessment report containing verbal and scored evaluations, but more importantly, identified strengths and areas for improvement.

The self-assessment report served as the input for the next process within the CAF model implementation, which is the improvement process. MŽP SR created an action plan for improvement, where it identified and set ten improvement activities. At the end of 2024, MŽP SR requested a CAF External Feedback assessment. The assessment took place at MŽP SR in December 2024. Based on the evaluation results, the national organiser of this methodology, the Slovak Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing, awarded MŽP SR the Effective CAF User label.

The title was presented on 30.1.2025 at MŽP SR. Anna Budiaková, Director of the Quality and Project Management Department, presented the label to Marek Chovan, Director General of the MŽP SR’s Service Office.
