The State Veterinary and Food Administration of the Slovak Republic (ŠVPS SR), as a budgetary organisation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic, defended the Effective CAF User label.

Currently, the agri-sector has the highest number of CAF model users. The Slovak Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing (ÚNMS SR), which is responsible for the development of this European improvement tool in public administration in Slovakia, is very pleased that four organisations in this sector utilize the CAF model.

This demonstrates that practice has shown that self-assessment carried out internally by employees, and their identification of areas for improvement, can establish improvement activities or projects that positively impact the organisation’s functioning efficiency and enhance the quality of services provided.

The four organisations in the agri-sector that have already implemented the CAF model are the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic, the Central Controlling and Testing Institute in Agriculture, the Agricultural Paying Agency, and the State Veterinary and Food Administration of the Slovak Republic.

The latter was the first in the sector to start working with the CAF model, choosing it as a path to improvement in 2020. Four years have passed since then, and since self-assessment under the CAF model should be repeated cyclically, ŠVPS SR began its second self-assessment at the beginning of 2023. This resulted in a self-assessment report, which represented a valuable source of ideas for further development and the establishment of a new improvement action plan.

At the end of 2024, ŠVPS SR requested an external review of the correctness of the CAF model implementation and the application of the eight principles of excellence. These are evaluated by the CAF External Feedback procedure, for which ÚNMS SR is the national organizer. Based on the evaluation results, the Effective CAF User label was granted to ŠVPS SR.

The award ceremony took place on January 29, 2025. The label was presented to Martin Chudý, Central Director of ŠVPS SR, by Anna Budiaková, Director of the Quality and Project Management Department of ÚNMS SR.
