At the end of 2024, as many as three local governments from the Nitra Self-Governing Region underwent the CAF Model External Feedback assessment. These were the City of Nitra, the City of Vráble, and the municipality of Úľany nad Žitavou.

Nitra began implementing the CAF Model back in 2021 by joining the national project ‘Implementation and Support of Quality Management in Public Administration Organisations’. It concluded its first cycle with a successful assessment, obtaining the Effective CAF User label. In 2024, the second CAF Model self-assessment and the process of defending the label took place.

City of Vráble and Municipality of Úľany nad Žitavou received support from the CAF Centre for the CAF Model implementation in 2023. They gradually went through their first self-assessment, which was carried out by their own employees. The self-assessment culminated in the improvement phase, where the organisations identified areas in which they wished to improve in the near future.

After carrying out several improvement activities, all three local governments requested the Slovak Office of Standards, Metrology and Testing to perform the CAF Model External Feedback. The assessments took place at the end of 2024. During these assessments, the local governments demonstrated the correct procedure and effectiveness of the steps taken during the CAF Model implementation.

“These three local governments beautifully show that when it comes to improvement, size does not matter. Whether it is a small municipality or a regional city, the endeavour to increase quality is justified everywhere. And of course, it will find its supporters and opponents everywhere. It is then solely down to the approach and dedication of the leaders how they manage to engage and convince others that changes are not the enemy and are necessary. Even small changes can bring great results that benefit all citizens.”

The label was presented to the representatives of the local governments by Anna Budiaková, Director of the Quality and Project Management Department of ÚNMS SR. The label was accepted on behalf of the City of Nitra by the Mayor, Marek Hattas, on behalf of the City of Vráble by the Mayor, Viktor Németh, and on behalf of the Municipality of Úľany nad Žitavou by the Mayor of the municipality, Rudolf Frýželka.
