Updated 09.09.2026
In the first half of 2026, the main focus of the activities of the national CAF correspondents was the ongoing revision of the CAF 2020 model and the preparation of its new version. Alongside this, cooperation with Slovak experts and the exchange of experience within the European CAF network continued.
Revision of the CAF Model
During the first half of the year, online working meetings dedicated to the revision of the CAF 2020 model continued. EIPA prepared the first draft of the proposed changes, aimed primarily at simplifying the CAF model, reducing the administrative burden and placing greater emphasis on results, citizens and society, and digitalisation. Slovak CAF trainers, consultants and assessors were also involved in the discussions and consultation process.
CAF Excellence Recognition
In 2026, the implementation of the revised CAF Excellence Recognition (CER) methodology continued, replacing the original CAF External Feedback process. The new methodology simplifies the assessment process and introduces three levels of CER recognition.
Meeting of National CAF Correspondents in Maastricht
On 21 April 2026, a working meeting of the national CAF correspondents took place in Maastricht. The discussions focused mainly on the revision of the CAF model, its development in individual countries, the simplification of public administration, digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence in the implementation of the CAF model.
Next Steps
The revision of the CAF model will continue in the second half of 2026. According to current information, completion of the new version of the CAF model is likely to be postponed until 2027. The next meeting of the national CAF correspondents will take place on 27 October 2026 in Maastricht.
